Work package 8: Recommendations for action

Research question/focus

Work package 8 will take the developed recommendations for action for the specific societal sub-systems (politics, economy, innovation networks, civil protection and research), bundle them together and process them so that they can be delivered to the relevant stakeholders in the form of specific and tailored recommendations or action.

In a next step, the recommendations will be collected, examined for content and coherence and merged into a recommendation catalogue. Distinctive features for the individual sub-systems and actors will be highlighted and tailored policy briefs prepared, meaning short but detailed arrangements of information, to be handed out to relevant decision-makers.

Afterwards, a cybernetic causation model will be developed which will incorporate the results and important parameters. The use of this model will be finalized in a model simulation, to be utilised for project-marketing purposes.

In a final step, the entirety of the project results and recommendation of all topical work packages will be presented in a concluding workshop. The goal is to identify overarching conclusions and to formulate recommendations and guidelines for high-level decision-makers in politics, the economy, administration and science, non-university research institutes, as well as the German and European RTI politics, in the relation to the project as a whole.

Backround

Different societal actors and sub-systems have different internal structures, an inherent logic, and requirements. The developed recommendations for action for the specific societal sub-systems (politics, economy, innovation networks, civil protection and research) will be wrapped together and processed so that they can be delivered to the relevant stakeholders in the form of specific and tailored recommendations or action. These recommendations will also include proposals for possible R&T studies as well as areas for future prevention measures. In addition to this, it will include a description of technical (and organizational) measures on how to tackle a similar future crisis more effectively by employing innovative technological approaches.

For ideal compatibility, the work package identifies suitable actors for the next steps and the implementation. Thus, ensuring a goal-oriented, macrosocial impact potential of the project results.

Methods

To ensure effective compatibility and utilisation of the results, a first step will be to identify relevant actors and possibly specific contact persons through project internal surveys regarding the use of already existing networks by the project partners as well as traditional research. This will not only ensure a targeted realisation of the project’s findings but at the same time raise awareness as well.

Fraunhofer INT

The Fraunhofer Institute for Technological Trend Analysis INT creates, and continually updates, a comprehensive overview of the general research and technology landscape and of the entire spectrum of technological development. We consolidate the general overview with our own specialized analyses and forecasts in selected technologies and by our own theoretical and experimental work in the field of electromagnetic and nuclear effects.

Collaboration

For the development of concrete recommendations for action all involved Fraunhofer institutes are working together closely under the leadership of the Fraunhofer INT.

Expected results

Work package 8 „Recommendations for action” will further process the overall results of the entire project. The results will be presented within already existing networks, as well as to identified actors and the relevant decision makers. By targeting the recommendations to specific actors, further opportunities for accompanying research and guidance for application arise. The project partners can further expand their networks and their portfolio for future projects.
